The IB program is offered by a number of private schools. It is taught under the supervision of the International Baccalaureate Organisation. All students study languages, social science, experimental science, mathematics and arts. The IB is divided into three programmes covering the following age ranges:
The University Grants Commission is the governing body which ensures admission to the university in Sri Lanka. Most courses at university last for four years. For admission to any university course there is the requirement to complete the GCE Advanced level.
