Long after the fall of apartheid, more than 13 million adult South Africans lack adequate education. The Adult Learning South Africa program was designed to promote adult learning in South Africa. Additionally, the University of South Africa Institute for Adult Basic Education and Training (for adult education instructors) is the largest such program of its kind in the world.
