Theatre, Opera, Museum
Unfortunately Doha does not have a large theatre scene. Its largest cultural centre is Katara Village, where performances are held in its Drama Theatre, which seats 430 people. Opened in 2010, Katara also hosts Doha's TEDx events, the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, and offices for local arts organizations such as the Theatre and Qatar Music Academy.

Museums in Doha
The Qatar Museums Authority is the body responsible for the city's main museums. Admission to most museums is free, except for special exhibitions.
Museum of Islamic Art and MIA Park
The Museum of Islamic Art is located near the Corniche. It is a striking modern building housing a collection of Islamic art, metalwork, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, textiles and glass from three continents, dating from the 7th to 19th centuries CE. Admission to the museum is free; fees are only charged for special exhibitions. There is free WiFi at the museum. Visitors are advised to adhere to a respectful dress code. There is a free shuttle bus between the Museum of Islamic Art and the Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art.
Adjacent to this museum is MIA Park where you can visit a café, hire a bicycle (25 QR per hour), hire a paddleboat (25 QR per 30 minutes) or explore the children's playground and play on the bungee trampoline (25 QR). MIA Park is open daily from 10:30 am to 11 pm, and is closed Tuesdays and from 1 July to the second day of Eid.

The Qatar National Museum is located on the eastern part of the Corniche and is currently closed. A new National Museum is scheduled to open in 2016.

Mathaf, Arab Museum of Modern Art
The Arab Museum of Modern Art is located on Al Luqta Street, in Education City, Doha. Mathaf houses exhibitions, programs and events that explore and celebrate art by modern and contemporary Arab artists. A free shuttle bus connects Mathaf to MIA. It takes 25 to 35 minutes to reach MIA, and the shuttle operates from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Orientalist Museum
The Orientalist Museum is located off Al Muthaf Street in Doha's Mirqab district. It houses some of the most significant collections of Orientalist art in the world, and is the only institution in the world solely dedicated to it. Its collections include paintings, watercolours, drawings, prints, sculptures and applied arts dating back to the 16th century CE. It is currently closed to the general public, during which time its collections will temporarily travel to other museums worldwide.

The Arabian and Islamic Heritage Library
This library houses over 75,000 Arab manuscripts and books and 25,000 foreign books, periodicals and maps. Its earliest documents date to the mid 15th century CE. Qatar Islamic Cultural Center FANAR
FANAR is a government organization that promotes Qatari culture. The FANAR building is marked by its iconic spiral, located near the Corniche. FANAR's education centre offers Arabic, Shariah and Arts and Calligraphy classes. Arabic classes start at QR 300, are offered three to four times daily Sunday & Tuesday or Monday & Wednesday, and are divided by males and females. Islamic classes are also offered in Filipino, Sri Lankan, Nepali and English. As an introduction to Qatari culture, FANAR offers coffee mornings with presentations on local culture and customs and a coffee breakfast. FANAR also facilitates mosque tours of the Blue Mosque and Grand Mosque, and offers free Islamic books.

Doha Fort (Al Koot)
Al Koot is one of the oldest military forts in the city of Doha. It is located in the Al Bidda area of Doha, the site of the Old Town. It was built in 1880 and was used as a jail until 1906. Today it is a museum with exhibits of Bedouin Sabu, handcrafts, gypsum and wooden ornaments, fishing equipment and boats, historical photos, and artwork.
