Cinema

Whether you're in the mood for a family-friendly comedy, a suspenseful drama or a cerebral documentary, Kuala Lumpur has a cinema fit for an evening of fun.

Golden Screen Cinemas at Berjaya Times Square Mall - Centrally located and features stadium seating and large screens. The theater shows Thai, Malay and American movies, and is also one of the first cinemas in Malaysia equipped with IMAX screens! The mall is located directly beside Imbi Station.

Coliseum Movie Theater - For a special treat, take the train from KL Sentral to Bandaraya station and hail a tax to bring you here. It is the oldest theater in KL and was constructed in 1921. It possesses a certain dignified old building smell that lends it a degree of sophistication absent from more modern cinemas. It has only one screen and shows fabulous Bollywood movies! Don't miss this unique opportunity to witness history and see a cheeky film.

Nightclubs

Most nightlife venues are free to enter, but in the rare case that there is a cover charge it's roughly $5.

Alcohol is available to foreigners and non-Muslims (for more info refer to the section on 'Cafes and Restaurants'), but rarely sold in Muslim-owned businesses.

In the shadows of the other-worldly art deco Petronas Towers, denizens of the night play, dance and mingle in a sub-tropical atmosphere humming with nocturnal activity. At Esperance, a sprawling entertainment complex awaits you with cocktails, EDM music and mood-lighting. Just a hop, skip and a jump away you will find Frisky Rooftop Bar. Sip on a cool cocktail in the heat of the sunset and enjoy indie grooves and a laid-back vibe. The area of the 'Golden Triangle' is a popular expat hang-out with Western-style bars and nightclub.

Kuala Lumpur's tourism website, Vision KL and Time Out online magazines offer nightlife listings and information on events.
