Gas, Electricity, Water in Kuwait City
Most residences (homes or apartments) in Kuwait come pre-connected to all necessary utilities like gas, electricity, water and telephone. Depending on the provider, utilities can be paid online using specific credit cards. (American Express isn't widely used in Kuwait).
Gas
Natural gas is provided only in certain areas of Ahmadi, a city due south of Kuwait City. Most people who use natural gas use bottled gas which is available from nearly all co-ops. Delivery is free of charge. The initial bottle of gas and a regulator are under KD10 and refills cost a mere 750 fils per bottle. It's advisable to keep more than one cylinder on hand.
Most apartment buildings have communal tanks, and the cost of gas is usually included with your monthly rent. If your home doesn't have a gas tank, you can purchase bottles as needed to run those appliances requiring gas.
Providers
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation or KPC is the sole provider of natural gas.
Rates
As of February 2013, Kuwait's natural gas was selling on the open market for KD33.740 per thousands of cubic meters.
Electricity
Kuwait's voltage is 240 volts, 50Hz. Both the UK-style three-pin and European-style two-pin plugs are in use.
Providers
Kuwait's electricity is provided by the Ministry of Electricity & Water. It is the sole provider for the entire country.
Rates
Annual bills can be paid in person or online by visiting the ministry's website. Most people receive just one bill covering both water and electricity. Water and electricity bills average at KD45 for a small apartment and KD150 for small villas or homes. These costs are sometimes be included in your rent; check your rent agreement carefully.

- 12 fils/Kilowatt for Chevron company

Water
Kuwait doesn't have naturally occurring fresh water and relies exclusively on desalination plants to produce enough fresh water for everyone living in Kuwait. In 2010, it was estimated that Kuwait consumed 1.5 million cubic meters of water per day, dangerously close to the country's maximum production rate of 1.51 million cubic meters per day.
