There are no laws addressing paid sick leave and its length in the Ghana Labour Act. It is however stipulated that employers cannot dismiss a worker during a period of illness, pregnancy or disability, assuming it is temporary or for a short period.
Female workers are entitled to 12 weeks of maternity leave with full pay. This leave can be extended if the woman has a caesarean delivery, an abnormal birth or twins.
