Lenbach: A hip, iconic and flamboyant restaurant situated in the centre of Munich (Ottostr 6) with high ceilings and bold, almost contrasting interiors that blend modern styles with classical notes. Augustiner Biergarten: For a much more down-to-earth but hearty experience, you’ve got to visit the beer gardens in Munich. Augustiner Biergrten is a popular one located at Arnulfstr 52, Munich. Take the S bahn and get off at the Hauptbahnhof or Hackerbrucke. Open daily from 11.30am – 11.30pm.

Aumeister: This is another popular beer garden located at Sondermeierstr 1 (at the northern part of the English garden). Take the U6 and exit at the Studentstadt or Freimann, it’s a 10 minute walk from there. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9am – 11pm.

Oktoberfest

The Oktoberfest is probably the world’s biggest tribute to beer! It attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world to its beer tents and carnival-like atmosphere. 2007 beat all previous records and boasted of the most beer drunk ever at a beer festival! Despite its name, the Oktoberfest actually takes place in September.

The estimated cost of a litre of beer at the 2008 festival is between 7.70 euros and 8.00 euros. Reserve your place in the beer tent early to make sure you’re at the heart of all the excitement.
