International healthcare, medical insurance

There are numerous insurance options and government agencies assigned to providing care, but the system can be so complicated and convoluted that people who can afford to just pay for treatment out of pocket.

Public Insurance

Most Egyptians's health insurance is provided through either the Ministry of Health or the HIO. They cover public facilities.

Private Insurance

The private health insurance is still developing. The majority of Egyptians access care through facilities operated by government ministries or public insurance schemes. The Curative Care Organization (CCO) covers specific Egyptian governorates (Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said, Kalyubia, Damietta and Kafr el Sheikh). It contracts with individuals, companies and government agencies for the provision of care and arranges premiums accordingly.
