Stadiums

Several stadiums are situated in Quito. The Olympic Stadium Atahualpa (Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa) near Quicentro Norte is the major one. Besides national and international soccer games, this stadium is also used for concerts of international pop stars.

Another large soccer stadium is Estadio de la LIGA Deportiva Universitaria (also called Casa Blanca), located further north in the Ponceano area.

Sporting Events and Activities

Ecuador's most popular sport is soccer. Walking through Carolina Park during a weekend, you see that all the soccer fields are occupied with enthusiastic players.

The park's fields of Ecuavolley, a national version of volleyball with a higher net, are also occupied most of the time. Running is gaining popularity among the "Quiteños" , resulting in exciting events, such as "Ruta de las Iglesias". This running event has a distance of 10 kilometers and crosses Quito's historical centre by night.

Gym

Gyms are situated all over town in different sizes and with different services. Prices vary from $35 USD to $80 USD per month for unlimited use, depending on the location and facilities of the gym.

Some gyms only have a small selection of fitness equipment, others have a large selection with swimming pool, sauna and group classes.
