Mail, Post office in Bogotá

Colombia's public post services are operated by 4-72. 4-72 permits the delivery of letters and parcels in regular or priority mode, and offers additional services such as payments, money wires and document management.

Nevertheless, most people prefer to use private services both within and outside the country, because of the national company's notoriously slow and unreliable service. Private delivery services include Servientrega (only within Colombia) and DHL.

Letters should be addressed:
Title, name and surnames of the recipient
Company name
Address: Street Name and number
Postal Code
City
Country

A list of the postal codes in the country can be found on Codigo Postal. Addresses should be written on the bottom right part of the back of the letter.

Mailing prices for letters within Colombia start at 1600 COP, and for parcels at 8400 COP. Prices vary according to the distance and to the weight of the letter or parcel. Letters may weigh up to 2 kilograms.

Prices for international deliveries start at 3400 COP for letters and 21,900 COP for parcels. Please note that customs duties may apply for some international deliveries.

Delivery times start from 2 working days for domestic deliveries, and 5-7 working days for international ones. All prices and delivery times can be found on the 4-72 website.

4-72 offers a tracking service for priority deliveries, as well as delivery confirmation services.

Services

Unfortunately, mail forwarding is not offered, nor is the possibility of renting a post office box.

In order to receive purchases from the United States, it is possible to rent out a Virtual Post Office box (Casillero Virtual), which allows you to benefit from lower delivery fees and parcel tracking.
