Au Pair

Au pairs are persons that take care of the children of a family and live within the home of their host. The family is responsible for providing the au pair with accommodation, meals and a stipend for other expenses. The family gains a caretaker for their children and the au pair, if a foreigner, gets intercultural experience. Expats have both found work and employed au pairs.

The hosts should be aware that the au pair is more than a regular employee, but an addition and an important part of the family. As a result:

A general work visa should be applied for, as specific visas for au pairs don't exist in Colombia. Refer to the section "Passport and Visas" for further information.
