Employees accept job offers not only upon the salary, but on the benefits that accompany many positions. Employee benefits are a "job perk" that may convince a potential employee to join a specific company.
Packages for Foreigners in China
A benefit package in China is very dependent on whether you are hired as an expat from abroad or a local hire. If you are hired from overseas, you are eligible for a greater range of benefits. A large bonus, hardship posting pay, housing allowance, 3-5 weeks paid vacation, and round trip air ticket once a year are standard. If you are hired locally, these benefits are usually not necessary to entice you and will not be offered.
Other benefits may include:
- Relocation benefits - Covers the cost of the actual move plus the help of a relocation agent to ease the transition
- Accommodation benefits - Subsidized housing and a rental agent to help find accommodations
- Language training - Courses at home and abroad to help the employee integrate
- Expatriate family benefits - Aid tuition payments for children, obtain visas and compensate for potential loss of income of spouse
- Taxes - The company completely handles the tax paperwork and payments
- Transportation costs - May include a car and/or driver or travel to and from work.
- Mobile phone and/or personal computer
- Health care Insurance - Provide access to private health care. This may help provide specialist expat care and Western practices
- Visa - Your company should handle the paperwork and fees associated with obtaining a visa.
- Evacuation insurance - The ability and financial security to leave should an emergency occur
