Nightclubs

Azucar is generally considered to be the hottest club in town (Rua Mario Feraz, 423). Classic latin dances like salsa, meringue and mambo are played all through the night, it doesn’t really get going till after midnight though.

Bar Favela (Prof. Atilio Innocenti 419; tel. 011/3848-6988) is an exceptional dance club with a massive dance floor and a good variety of music from popular hip-hop, current hits and disco through to classic Latin beats. This club only offers limited seating however so not the best choice if you’re also hoping to hang out and chat with friends.

For a more relaxed evening head for Blen Blen Brasil (Rua Inácio Pereira da Rocha 520, Pinheiros, Phone: 011/3812-2890). Open every day except Sunday, Blen Blen features live music and dancing and has a truly eclectic feel. Aside from the eye-catching decor Blen Blen also offers a wide variety of music selections by local DJs and live bands. Popular with tourists and locals alike.

The Buena Vista Club at Rua Atílio Innocenti 780 in the Vila Olímpia neighbourhood (Phone: 011/3045-5245) is open Wednesday through Sunday, and combines live and recorded music. Not only is it a great place to dance, but you can even take dancing lessons there too and try your hand at traditional Brazilian dances like gafieira and the zouk. A variety of appetizers and drinks are on sale - the perfect spot to end an exciting evening!
