Andorra's total geographical area is 468 km². Thanks to its location, right in the middle of the Pyrenean mountains, it is home of 65 peaks of more than 2,500 meters of altitude.

It is an area of ​​steep peaks and narrow valleys, and there are many streams that come together in its three main rivers: Valira del Nord, Valira d'Orient and Gran Valira.

Geography of Andorra la Vella

Andorra la Vella is located in the country central valley, in the Pyrenees, close to the confluence of the Valira de Nord and Valira d'Orient rivers, which forms the Valira river.

The city, 11km from the Spanish border and 33km from the French one, is located at 1,022 meters above the sea level. This makes places it as the highest altitude above sea level European state capital.

Its highest mountain is "el Bony de la Pica" at 2,402 meters above sea level. Extensive medium-mountain forests, influenced by altitude, and the dominant species is the red pine (Pinus sylvestris), they cover Andorra la Vella surroundings.
