Form of overseas care reimbursement

For insured French residents

When staying abroad, including in countries of the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland and you need a medical procedure (and when e you have advanced the cost of care in whole or part), you can request reimbursement from Social Security.

Care in a foreign country (non-EU / EEA and Switzerland)

The health insurance fund has p ossibility to make a lump-sum reimbursement of care or medical treatment received abroad.

Care in a country of the EU / EEA or Switzerland

You can seek treatment from a doctor or hospital the same conditions as nationals of that country, which means that sometimes you need to pay for care. Your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) allows you to enforce your rights. If upfront fee care, vo us can claim reimbursement from your health insurance fund.

A downloadable form on the site Ameli.fr should be completed by the insured. It allows the insured (s) who received care during a stay in abroad, to submit its rebate application (with supporting documents) to its health insurance fund.

IMPORTANT: It is essential that the documents provided are originals as photocopies are not accepted for processing the application.

Handling the case
