    The Visitor Information Center of San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau is situated on the first floor of Hallidie Plaza, at the intersection of streets Market and Powell, and is open from 9am to 17:30 Monday - Friday with limited hours on weekends. Telephone: 391-2000 For a recording 24 hours of the daily activities: 391-2001

    Embarcadero, a wide avenue along the forehead of the bay, is now lined with shops, restaurants and is a popular tourist attractions especially the piers which have been converted into shopping centres of specialized shops. The most famous is Fisherman's Wharf which always welcomes a fleet of fishing boats in activity as well as markets of fishes, seafood restaurants and souvenir shops. Boats of excursion and tubs leave quays near Fisherman's Wharf.

    The tour towards Alcatraz brings you towards " The Rock " and gives you the opportunity to visit its abandoned prison.

    A few restaurants:
    • Kensington Bistro and Kensington Circle (Berkeley) for lunch and dinner
    • Ceasar's (on Shattuck, close to Vine) for a drink
    • El Cerrito (Phuping Thai) and other restaurants in the Pacific East Mall commercial center
    • San Francisco Chinatown restaurants
    • El Salvadoreno (Railroad Avenue - Pittsburg): exotic cuisine and traditional from South America
