Embarcadero, a wide avenue along the forehead of the bay, is now lined with shops, restaurants and is a popular tourist attractions especially the piers which have been converted into shopping centres of specialized shops. The most famous is Fisherman's Wharf which always welcomes a fleet of fishing boats in activity as well as markets of fishes, seafood restaurants and souvenir shops. Boats of excursion and tubs leave quays near Fisherman's Wharf.
The tour towards Alcatraz brings you towards " The Rock " and gives
you the opportunity to visit its abandoned prison.
