For additional refunds, you may register with a private insurance company.

The Social Security reimbursement scheme refunds only the ‘Ticket Modérateur’ (basic rate), which means that you have to pay all the rest. Moreover, dentist and optical care are usually costly and their associated reimbursements are really low.

For these reasons, you might subscribe a private additional insurance to insure that additional expenditures. The cost of such insurance varies a lot depending of your situation: single, with children… (an indicative price is about 450 € a year). Sometime your company will provide you specific low rate for a private insurance.

If there is a special agreement with your Social security centre, the refund form will be sent automatically. If not, you will need to wait for the refund form sent by the Social security centre and will transfer it to your private insurance.
