    School system

    Last update: 13/06/2008

The American school system is comprised of kindergarten starting at age 5, Elementary school, Middle School and High School.

Children in grades kindergarten through 12 whose parents are non-residents of Florida should have a written Agreement of Transfer of Schools and may be charged a tuition fee payable at the time the child is enrolled. There will be no tuition if a parent has lived in Florida for more than a year, purchased a home in Florida which they occupy prior to enrolment, and filed an affidavit of domicile in the county where the child is enrolled.

In order to qualify for in-state tuition fees at the state's public universities and community colleges, a student must have resided in Florida for 12 consecutive months prior to enrolment.
