    Finding Accommodation, Flatsharing

For your offers and searches for accommodations, but also for exchange of conversation and other ads, EasyExpat provides a classified ads section.
    Last update: 8/04/2008

In most areas of Spain, finding accommodation to rent or buy isn't difficult, providing that your requirements aren't too unusual. There are, however, a few exceptions. For example in major cities such as Madrid and Barcelona rented accommodation is in high demand and short supply, and rents can be astronomical. Accommodation accounts for around 25 per cent of the average Spanish family's budget, but can be up to 50 per cent in the major cities.

Property prices and rents in Spain vary considerably depending on the region and city. For example, an apartment renting for 240€ a month in Seville will cost 600€ a month in Madrid and Barcelona, and at least 400€ a month in most other northern cities.

The best way to start is to have a look in a newspaper/website called Segunda mano in the section "Immobiliaria / Pisos y Apartamentos" (http://www.segundamano.es). You will find a lot of ads and some good deals.

FLATSHARING : A NEW WAY OF LIFE

Instead of living in a pokey attic room with huge rent, why not try shared accommodation? Frequently associated with students, sharing is spreading nowadays towards older established workers and covers people from 18 to 49 years old. Without falling into a community style of life such as in the 70's, you can choose to share an accommodation for a bigger space, less expense.

Flatsharing is a way to meet more and more followers who choose to break a lonely life, save money or just find an affordable acommodation in a difficult market. This way of life has numerous advantages in term of money, practicality or social life. EASYEXPAT in partnership with EASYROOMMATE number one for flatsharing, offers this service to its users to present all the chances to find the ideal flatmate or to join an existing household.

    maps of rooms for rent
Like the article above says, it's very practical to have a street atlas of the area you're going to live. I think it's even more practical a listings website that integrates the map, so that people offering rooms for rent can show visually where their flats are located to people that may not know the city. For these people, a map showing where each of the housing offers is located might be very useful.

    vivirama is such a website,

    http://www.vivirama.com

It allows you to post and find room rentals (and other kinds of housing offers) not only in Madrid ( http://www.vivirama.com/spain/madrid/madrid ), but in virtually all cities of the world, and let's you do it visually on the maps of the cities.

    Hope you find it useful.

    Find an accommodation in agencies
In addition to Segundamano, some agencies can find you an accommodation. E.g. Estate Agency Ali-Bey - C/Recoletos 11 - 1ºB can find a bedroom for 39 euros per mpnth in a share flate. Or they also offer the possibility to find a room in a Spanish family (including food, washing...) but it's a bit more expensive I think.
