    The role of private insurance is clear: they can only cover treatments that are not necessay from a medical point of view, like convenience care or to see a specialist. All the care at hospitals must be in charge of the basic medical insurance.

    Thus, most of the time the choice of the plan will be done directly at the subscription for a medical fund, as you will have to choose your level of franchise, and the level of services in case of hospital care (single room, ...) and additional insurances (dental, opticians,...)
