    The rail way

In Germany there are now 2 systems:

    - Die Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB for west trains)
    - Die Deutsche Reichsbahn (east trains)

with different prices and comfort as well.

    The train

    Die deutsche Bahn AG
    http://www.deutschebahn.de/

Intercity trains or ICE are the high speed trains (280 km/h) that link big cities together. Since 1991, 60 intercity trains have been used. They link Hambourg-Hannovre-Kassel-Francfort -Stuttgart-Munich.

Since 1990, EuroCity (EC) trains are used too, to travel in Europe.

    Suburban trains and Metro

Around the city of Frankfurt, you have some high-speed trains ((S)-Bahn) and the metro in town ((U)-Bahn). The city has also buses and a tramway.

    Tariffs

Several tariffs - ask the station what is the best one according to your journey. Here below are some examples:

    • The monthly card (Die MonatsKarte) : Valid for S-Bahn, U-Bahn
    • The weekly card (Die WochenKarte) : Valid for S-Bahn, U-Bahn
    • The train card (Die Bahnkarte) :http://www.bahncard-service.de : valid for IC and normal trains for long journey. It's a good deal if you travel a lot.
    • The tour card (Die Tourenkarte) : for those who travel and stay for long in the same area.
    • The " tramp " monthly ticket (Das Tramper-Monats-Ticket) for 145€ offers some free trips for S-Bahn and bus.

    Bus

Buses are often the only transport to go to surrounding villages and often do only one return trip a day.

    Car

There is no speed limit on German motorways.
