What happens if I withdraw from an accepted job?

Postby Eleuterio » Tue Jul 31, 2012 4:02 pm

Hi all
maybe someone can help me on this.
I am in talk with two companies to move to London.
One has already made a job offer and they are asking my acceptance (or refusal).
Since I want to wait a little also for the other to make the offer (they said they will come back to me in max two weeks), what happens if I feel forced to accept the first one and then the second turns out to be better? Can I still withdraw from the first?

thanks to anyone who could answer
cheers

Ciao Eleuterio,

i hope this answer doesn't come too late.

In England is much different than in Italy: professional relationships are mainly based on honesty and straightforwardness.

If both companies offer you a job, you just have to tell the one you decide to decline, that "thanks but i received a better offer". Put it down nicely (the brits love honest people but also love to use nice words even for the worst messages ;) ) and thank them a lot. They're not gonna black list you and they're not going to call all their friends to tell them you're a pr*ck and not to offer you a job ever again.

in bocca al lupo!
