Hello,
I want to move to the United Kingdom with my husband, but I am having trouble navigating the visa process.
My husband has dual citizenship between the UK and USA, but has always lived in the USA. He will be attending college in the UK, and we plan to move together. From what I understand, even though he is a British citizen with a British passport, he will need to apply for Right of Abode in the UK because he has never been a resident there. Is this correct?
Also, my son and I are USA citizen's but we would like to move with my husband as he attends for college. I need to work while I am there, and I am unsure about what visa to apply for. Would we need to get Settlement visas, even though we will only be there for three years?
How strict are they about being able to show that you can support your spouse for them to come to the UK. We both have jobs, and will be moving with some savings, but while there I will find employment to support us, and my husband will be a full-time student. Will this be a problem?
Also, we will likely not have an address in the UK before I apply for the visa, will this be a problem? My husband has family in the UK, who are willing to be on the application as sponsors, and we could use their address as well.
Any suggestions (or just confirming that I understand things correctly) would be a great help.
