    Hello everyone,

When living abroad, you often have to deal with some traditions that may seem surprising to you, and adapt to the local culture.

What is the habit you find strangest in France? On the contrary, maybe you have noticed different and interesting practices? What is a myth about your adopted country?

Have you noticed things not to do, or on the contrary certain that it is better to do in France?

Thanks in advance for sharing your expat experience.:thumbup:

I just got back from a visit to Normandy in November and my visiting American family and I kept having the same problem - restaurant times!

We should have known better, but after a busy day seeing sights and eating on the go we were ready to eat between 2-5pm. Absolutely everything was closed in the small towns. Most places didn't re-open until 7pm.

And even more bizarre to us - grocery stores often closed by 7:15pm (which seemed a very peculiar time).

So if you visiting places that are more rural off-season, take note!
