    Hi,

i have left the uk in februay 2010, and i am sending my p85 with my p60 to my tax office.
I have heard that you could get your taxes paid back not only if you have paid too much, but because as a foreigner you have the right to get all of them back. And so, for all the years you have worked overthere.
Is that true? What is actually paid back?

I know there is a lot of questions on the subject on this forum, but nobody seems to answer clearly on that point.

    Cheers all.

    No, not true :D
In the UK, your tax is calculated each month, and paid before you get your salary, based on working the full tax year. If you leave the country before, it often means that you paid too much tax every month as you have not done the full year. Therefore you are entitle to some money back.

I am aware of this 'rumour' and actually I have seen quite a lot of people believe that you will get all the taxes you have paid once you leave UK but that is definitely not true. The tax money once gone is gone.

You will only get the money back that you have paid in excess. I am not sure of how it is calculated but no, not the whole tax.
