It was time for a change in order to offer more functionalities and easy social network integration. Therefore after nearly 15 years using PhpBB as our forum system, we've decided to migrate to Xenforo (also more flexible and easier to maintain).

The work has been enormous as not only we needed to customise the new forum to match the site with a very specific need, but the forums are deeply integrated with the rest of EasyExpat.com and many pages needed to be rewritten to include the new system functions.

The paint is still fresh and we have still some work until the ned of the week but at least you can use the forums now.
I will update the thread as it goes along with the bug fixes (and we have already a list ) and still some changes to implement.

We are nearly there (our developers have been working like crazy!!!:silent:).

It seems that everything works now and we have even implemented new functionalities (you need to select the language now beside the title when you open a new discussion, which gives everyone the possibility to sort by language later...;))
Still a bit of work to do and we will have a fantastic totally new forum tool in a few days :):p

    Hello all,

Some news about the new forums...

We have finally achieved the migration and you can now enjoy the brand new forum system on EasyExpat.com (running with Xenforo). Our choice to move to Xenforo was largely influenced by discussions on WebRankInfo (French expert in SEO) and the information given by Olivier. We wouldn't have been able to achieve this without the help of the Xenforo community too.

It has been very hard and a lot of efforts to adapt our existing heavily customized system, but we have now a full environment that we hope you will enjoy using.

We are going to implement a few more functionalities in the coming weeks (particularly the possibility to log with your Facebook, Google or Twitter accounts) but I wanted to point out an important new feature: each thread is now labelled with the language mainly used in it, and by clicking on the label (little pen ✎ as ✎EN, ✎FR, ✎IT, ✎DE...etc) you will be able to see only discussions in that language.

In addition specific topics where expats can share their experience are groupe with the label:

For all the members, I recommend you have a look at your profile and if it is not already done, upload a profile photo :geek:. For others, I encourage you to join ;)

Enjoy and see you soon on our forums!
