    Hello and welcome!

Buying property abroad can be quite intimidating, even if you have lived in Italy as an expat for years! Some questions you may have…

Can a foreigner buy property in Italy? If so, is it complicated? What is the process for purchasing property? Is there anything a foreign buyer should be especially aware of?

Have you been through the process? What advice can you give to other expats in Italy looking to buy - either a home or an investment property? Do you have a check-list or tips you can provide?

    Thanks for sharing! :D

Re: Planning Your Move to Italy

If you are planning to buy a property in Italy it is very important to understand the differences between the process you are used to and the Italian system.

In Italy there is no obligation to hire a lawyer to carry out the transaction, and often this seems like great news to buyers looking to save money. In the long term however, the costs and risks involved in not using a lawyer and not having all the documents translated (a specilist bilingual lawyer should carry this out as part of their service) can quickly get out of control.

Read up on the buying process and access free guides and articles availale on our website.
