Registering a child in Morocco

Postby Aidthemaid » Sun Sep 25, 2011 11:39 am

Hi, I'm trying to get some legal advice regarding British Nationals abroad. I recently found out (March 2010) that I was a father to a Moroccan boy born in 2002 and would like to put on his birth certificate (I've had the DNA done). I am trying to establish if I UK law applies in this case or Moroccan Law? And if so, do I need to marry his mother, which I would prefer not to if at all possible. Any advice would be most gratefully received. Thank you.

We recently published a guide for expats to Casablanca that includes information for expats in Morocco concerning visas, work permits, health, etc., but I have been unable to determine exactly where you should register a child and how to get that information changed. Have you been able to determine the procedure you must go through to do this? It might be of use to others on the forum.
