If you buy a property in Spain directly from the bank it comes completely disconnected from the electricity and water suppliers. For a foreigner with little Spanish language skills it's a complicated process to get reconnected. HERE is where those scammers make their money, by offering a “HELP” to organise everything for you.

We were charged a horrendous amount of money as a fee to cover the costs of reconnecting to the utility companies. However, the utility companies took their fees directly from my bank account. When challenged to provide me with details to justify their expenses, but we never receive any receipts or paperwork, just a lot of excuses.

In reality any other FAIR real estate firm would be happy to make all these connections for you only for 150 EUR (all inclusive)!!!
