    Hey all,

I am a student from Asia, currently studying in Barcelona. I like it here, and would like to continue living and working here after my study finished, which is in about 8 months.

I have been reading some info on the web that says, with my residency (type estudiante) i have only rights to work 20hrs a week (part time). Not even sure if it is only during my study lasts.

Say i found a job (fulltime) here, will I able to apply for workpermit and residency and continue to live here?

    Any input is appreciated!!

    Ciao

    Ben

Basically, foreign students cannot carry out any profitable activity, but it will be allowed if it does not limit the studying aims.... that's what you come accross when you search for information on the Internet.
I am not an expert but my feeling (I know a bit the situation in other EU countries) is that when you want to work in a normal job, you then need to go back to your country an apply for the job and the visa, to get a work permit.
Your student visa allows you to study only, and find a job that might help you to live during your studies but shouldn't be your main activity. So depending on the job, I would say that for a full time job, plain full time studies may be incompatible...

But surely to apply for a job from abroad is almost impossible, unless you probably have very special skill, or you know some people in the country. Even for europeans, it is suggested that they come first to the country and then look for work. Yet, some have succeeded.

I guess there is slight possibility that I found a company that is interested in hiring me, but then I have to go back to my country and do the proper procedure with another type of visa.

To mention another thing that is on my mind:
What if I managed to find work on another european country other than Spain. Will I be able to apply for work visa from the embassy in Spain (as I am currently a resident of it)?

You might be lucky and find a company in Spain that can do the admin work with the visa, and then you could avoid to go back to you country... (but don't tell the customs :shy:)
Same thing will apply to other countries in the EU.
