First, is your father interested in obtaining Polish citizenship? Even if he isnt, will he help you along to a certain point by getting his so you can get yours? Another thing, where and when was he born? By looking at the citizenship acts of 1920, 1951, 1962 and any further amendments and looking at when your family emigrated to the your location might give you clues as to if you can or can not apply.
Also, check with a couple of lawyers. One is Lukasz Piotrowski and ask questions as to how feasible it is in getting around the issue if your father is unwilling to help you with your quest. Have you read through all 3 parts of the citizenship forum? You will be amazed at what you will find there and similar circumstances as yours. Also ask a moderator by the name of Curious George to link you to his section about what paperwork you will need in order to apply for citizenship. Good luck.

I'm confused about the "father conferring citizenship" part. I thought it did not matter whether it was the father or mother who was a Polish citizen. My situation is that my grandmother was born in 1900 and came to the US in 1921, but if my dad, born in 1927, would not have gotten citizenship through her because she was his mother, that is a dead end, correct?

His father came over around 1913, and we don't even have records of him arriving (he came as a tourist and forgot to leave LOL), so he is definitely out as an option.
