    Hi all,

its possible that I may be moving to Brussels soon.

I would be working in Diegem, but I would like to live in or close to the city. Where would be the best place to live? I was thinking somewhere close to Noord station would be handy for the train etc. Are there buses out there too ?

Is it relatively safe living around the city ?

    thanks folks

Easy Expat city guide on Brussels offers some valuable information on accomadations (http://www.easyexpat.com/en/brussels/ac ... dation.htm):

"It is possible to find accommodation simply by walking in the streets. "To Rent" boards are displayed on vacant properties with affordable rents, where landlords find it easier to tape a note on their window

You will find also ads on boards in shops (news-agents, shopping centers) and in newspapers: Vlan [http://www.Vlan.be] is a newspaper distributed from Monday, but can be bought at newsagents on the previous Saturday. There is also the newspaper called J’annonce in bookshops and newsagents.

There are numerous estate agencies and website specialised in properties in Brussels. For example:

http://www.immoweb.be (Main Belgian website for properties, there are a lot of ads. You can consult the list of agencies or find a solicitor or a surveyor).
    http://www.immoscan.be
http://www.immodream.com (a very nice home page where you will find a lot of information)
    http://www.eurohouse.be
    http://www.cofinimmo.com
    http://www.otimmo.com"

    Good luck!

thanks for the info, much appreciated.

What do you think about commuting to Diegem ? how long would it take from Brussels Nord ? where would you suggest a good place in the city that I could commute easily by train or bus ?

    thanks again

hey! You can find the train hours on www.b-rail.be, it's about 10 minutes...
Brussel Nord is quite ...hmm.. the "ghetto" of Brussels :) But all the companies are located there as well...So once it is 18h everything changes :)...Although I never experienced anything, I know people that have... I would NOT suggest Brussel nord to live...Especially if you don't know Brussels that well...
I would suggest or the centre (but that's quite expensive), or further away...Like Woluwe is nice to live... But I don't know what your looking for...price? number of bedrooms,...
Young people (20-30years) prefer Sint-Gillis, Elsene or Jette
At my company we also offer some appartments :) you can see them also on immoweb, but you can also contact us directly... At www.parcdesnations.be you can take a look...
Ow, I suggest www.vlan.be as well!!! Is new site, but very good! (you'll see)
