✎ EN Any Brits living in OZ ? Advice Needed.

    Hi, my partner and myself are planning the big move, hopefully yo Australia.
    He has the qualifications, experience etc, but we are slightly confused about the whole process.
    Do we use an agent or do we deal direct with the Australian embassy !?
    We are going file an assesment form which we are currently putting the finishing touches to, but are very nervous as to how much the agents are going to charge, which isn't disclosed until consultation, which is costing us £195.00.
    All our money is actually tied up into our property, so we dont have any savings (due to house renervations).

    Sorry to ask so many questios, but we really want this but worried the bubble may burst :cry: .

    Hi Donna
    I am in the process of immagrating to oz (hopefully) it will cost you about 1500 pounds to use an agent plus another 1000 to apply plus you have to do a skill test which cost another 1000pounds.
    i have gone the route of applying without an agent but would probably use one if i had to apply again there is a lot of work involved.
    PS you must pass a skills miration test before you apply or it will fail

    Some people do it themselves, but most seem to prefer to use an agent, as it keeps some of the stress levels down.

    Good luck and I hope the exchange rate moves back in your favour, before you need to move funds over here.
