Can someone just confirm for me that a certified copy of my passport is absolutely fine for my sponsor half of my fiancee's visa application???

I'm sick of sifting through all the non-relevant stuff on the government sites and getting no answers. And don't even get me started on the UK Visas 'helpline'.

Will the solicitor make the copy themselves, or is it perfectly okay to make your own photocopy and have them certify it separately?
