    I'm looking for advice from anyone who has maintained their home country residence while living abroad. I'm wondering about homeowners insurance primary vs. secondary, property taxes for an empty house, mail, upkeep, etc. and just general experiences.

    Anyone? :?:

    In which country ? I've done that a while in France when living abroad, but rules are different in another country... :rolleyes:

    We'll be moving to France for 2 years and want to maintain our US house, but we have a great many concerns about taking care of the house and any potential tax advantages or disadvantages.

    The concern will be primarly: will you have someone (friend, parent or estate agent) taking car of the house in the meantime ? In term of tax, you will move probably your residential status to France. But you will have still tax regarding your property to pay in the US.
