Hello and welcome to EasyExpat.com -

This topic is specifically dedicated to new comers in China. We invite you to introduce yourself here!

Why have you come here? Is it for internship? Studies? A job? Or simply in order to discover new lands?

If you have already secured a job, how did you find it? How long do you think you will stay in China?

How was your move? What happened for your first steps here?

What was the easiest thing / the most difficult to adapt to?

Thanks in advance for your answers and here’s to a good discussion!

I moved your question to the thread on new members as I think many people experience these difficulties when first moving to a new country. We cover this a bit in our post, How to Battle Culture Shock and Win.

I really recommend trying to find a community in your area to connect with. Often times, meeting some expats from your home country can help you vent, find solutions and feel more comfortable in new surroundings. Start with expat blogs in China (also some expat blogs in China in German) as well as the expat network in Shanghai.

Can anyone recommend a counselor they've used or how they cope?
