New to Brussels!

Postby Caramell87 » Thu Mar 03, 2011 6:36 pm

Hello to all
I just recently moved to Brussel, i am doing a small internship in the EU Parliament and i realised that i actually know no one here, so if anyone wants to get together, go for coffee, cinema or whatever it will be great.

Here is a litle about me,23 years odl, french/Nowegian, but studying in Belfast, Northern Ireland, very easy going, like the cinema, coffeeshop, shopping (or window shopping as brussels is very expensive!) museum, pubs, quiz est.so if anyone out there fancy meeting someone new, let me know, i am up for it! ;)

Armelle :)

Hi Armelle-
have you checked out the easy expat guide to Brussels- http://www.easyexpat.com/en/brussels.htm? Has great info for the city. You can always try joining a gym, trying out classes (ie dance), and just talking to neighbors to make friends.

Also- there is a similar thread of someone looking for friends: new-brussels-t25376.html

Enjoy!

Hi Armelle,

I am new in Brussels too! I've got a job in brussels and just moved from UK to here.

I am quite friendly, easygoing and want to find someone to hang-up together. May be we have go to have a cup of coffee / tea together?

Let me know if you are interested...

Hello Jo, Armelle and Duygu!

I moved to Brussels last December with my boyfriend, but I still don’t know many people here and would love to change that.
I love socialising, having a coffee or drink, exploring places, etc… I’m very easy going :)

Maybe we could meet up this weekend for a cup of coffee? What about Saturday afternoon for example? I know it’s very short notice, but let me know if you are around.

Looking forward to meeting you all :)

Hello Alex and Chrissie,

I'd be happy to have a cup of coffee and get to know you this weekend. Saturday afternoon is fine for me. It's been only ten days since I came here, I don't know a lot of places so let's please pick a easy place to find :)

Hope to see you soon,

Hi girls!

This is great :) So should we meet up for coffe tomorrow then? How about meeting at around 3pm, would that suit everyone? Since some of you are quite new here, I suggest we could maybe go to a cafe in St. Gery - it is an area with lots of cafes an bars and is very centrally located near the bourse.

Or we could also go to the Balli / Chatelain area which is also very nice (close to Avenue Louise). I'm not sure what would suit you more? If you want, you could all send me your email adresses to: - It will be easier to discuss it that way. In the meantime, I'll try to think of an exact location (unless anyone of you has a suggestion of course, I don't know that many places myself ;)

Hope to see you tomorrow,
Alex

Hey everyone!
I read your conversation above and was wondering whether you indeed met up. I moved to Brussels 2 weeks ago for an internship at the Benelux and will stay until the end of September, but I don't know anyone around here.
If you already got together, can I maybe join you next time? An otherwise, would you like to meet up somewhere this week?

Something about myself: I am 22 years old, I'm Dutch and writing my masters' thesis during my internship. But don't think I only care about studying ;) which is one of the reasons I came to Brussels. I like to go out for a drink or a dance, do some shopping, stroll around town, etc.

Hope to hear from you, but also others reading this, please respond!
