Postby vimi » Thu Nov 10, 2005 3:09 pm

Hi there,

If anyone gone to India to get married while on vacation, please reply on the procedures.

Thank u..

I am in a much complicated situation..none of us are Indian nationals..Im Malaysian and him French. Thou he was born in India.

We enquired at the local registrar office, they refused.

The French Consulate in Pondicherry willing to accept if the French Town Hall willing to give permission. Our fren is still enquiring. All doesnt seem like a straight procedure.

There shud b foreigners who both being Non Indians, but got married in India perhaps in another state like Goa or Kerala which we are not aware off..we are trying in Pondicherry and Chennai.

Both of us are Hindus.

I av heard from the French Town Hall in Pondicherry India, it is a long process. Atleast one of us have to be in India minimum 40 days before the ceremony.

I have a single status letter from my goverment and so does my bf from his goverment. Does that mean we could get married in any country?

Ygar do help me with the procedures you went through and under which law did u marry? Hindu Laws/Special Marriage Act/ sumthing else?

And please refer me your lawyer for further info.

We would like a simple civil wedding with most of the hassle sorted even before we land in India. We dont mind paying for the legal assistance.

Kind Regards, Vimi

Here in the sense u are in India now?

If in India, min stay 60days. Do it under Special Marriage Act, thts the best way for foreigners marrying Indians! Google search it, u ll be able to find further info on the procedures/find a lawyer.

In UK, easyexpat has plenty of articles on marriage procedures.

Best wishes,

Vimi
