Hello, How do you get medical treatment in Malaysia when you need it? Is care similar, or very different from where you are from? Do you need to register with a local doctor (GP)? Is it easy and quick when you need to see a doctor? What is the cost (drugs, treatment, reimbursement…)? Is there a long delay? Where do you buy your medicine in Malaysia? Are pharmacies all the same? Are most drugs over-the-counter, or prescription? How does the hospital system work? What are the main differences between private and public care? Do you need/do you recommend private health insurance in Malaysia? Please share your experiences so new/future expats can prepare. Thanks in advance for you tips and advice!
Cost of blood test/treatment for expat Dear everybody, I have a health issue because of my thyroid which require a very regular treatment. I would like to know : - How does a blood test cost in Malaysia? - If, by all hazard, someone has the same problem, is it hard to get the treatment? - If someone has any recommendation for an hospital (private or public) and a doctor (endocrinologist or generalist)? Any information would be very welcomed. Thanks a lot and have a good day Helene
We have an upcoming guide to Malaysia, but unfortunately have not finished & implemented it yet (be sure to check back!). The best resource may be to network with expats in Malaysia, as well as expat bloggers in Malaysia. Anyone else have experience or advice to share?
