My mother is a EU citizen (British) but I am not (US). She is looking at starting up a business in Spain and would like for my family to come over and help run it.

My question is about my (and my wife's) work visa. Is there some exemption or special status for a family business? Do I try for self employed status or does my mother have to take me on as an employee (and all the paperwork that goes with that) and I apply for a 'standard' work visa?

I am happy to provide any additional information if it helps.
