important: the two tickets have our names on them, but this is really not a problem as neither eurostar nor the french custom never checks the name on the ticket (to gain access to the trains, you just need to swipe the ticket's bar code onto a machine). Yes, actually I don't understand why they say that on their tickets. I took a ticket with my name on it and gave it to my partner 4 days ago... the swipe did not work and they did the checking manually... and no problem at all. In comparison to other international trains (Thalys, ECE, TGV Est) the Eurostar is already making incredibly more hassling to its users...
Anyway as they were saying on Friday that there is no availability until Monday, and in addition they ask people with tickets that they are not using to contact them (I think for refund - even when non-refundable) a second alternative would be to call Eurostar and say you will not be using the train.
