I really want to move to Germany.

I'm an 8th generation American. I have no direct ancestral ties to Germany or anywhere else in EU for that matter (although my last name is German ).

Although Germany would be my first choice (da ich einfaches Deutsches spreche) I would prefer to move to any EU country to become a citizen (then ultimately move to Germany).

Anyone know the easiest route? Someone stated Sweden to me and that they have lax immigration laws... but I don't know if the knew what they were talking about and I didnt find anything to back up their claim.

Perhaps at this stage, citizenship is not really what you're looking for. Germany doesn't hand out passports easily.

Have you considered trying to live and work in Germany as an American citizen? If you can secure a job in Germany, Residence Permits are easier to come by.

After an X amount of years on a work visa I become a citizen though right?
