Conversation exchange in Brussels

Postby Eric489 » Mon Aug 23, 2010 5:46 pm

Hi there !

I'm a 21 year old Belgian student living in Brussels.
I organize conversation exchanges for expats in the capital willing to improve their French for a (very) cheap buck.

The main idea is to improve spoken skills at the learner's rate and not impose a too academic methodology as done in some language evening classes, where sticking to the scheduled classes is required.

So in order to put some variety, my conversation hours will also revolve around some written texts and short novels and why not songs translations if asked.
Concerning the books, I lend the selected novels to the pupils, so no extra hassle necessary running after books. ;-)

In addition, I try to give some small grammar tips. So even if it's quite conversation oriented, I'll try to pour in some grammar without trying to make it too scholastic.

Here are my listed languages, note that I only teach French :

French - Native speaker, all my schooling has been done here and in French.

Norwegian - Somewhat native, I must admit I have very good skills in Norwegian as it's been my "fathertongue" since the cradle. Only setback is I haven't really had the time and opportunity to travel back to Norway as much as I did when I was younger. So I admit having "lost" a bit.

German - I'm in my second translation year in English-German.

Dutch - Learned in school as it is the second tongue one learns as a pupil. The Norwegian helped a lot.

So if you're new in this city and want to refresh your French or just give it a go, it might then be the thing for you.
Having met a couple of expats, I know it's quite difficult to get aquainted to a new city, language and sometimes a total different culture all at the same time. So I try to make the conversation hours as flexible as possible for the learner. I'm usually around Ixelles and the city centre and Schuman where most expats work/live (Place du Luxembourg, Schuman, Etterbeek, Ixelles, downtown Brussels)

Price : As of the price previously mentionned as cheap, it's 7€/hour.
Contact :You can contact me through the website with a personal message or give me a call/ send a text message 0496 51.20.51

Hope to meet you soon !
;-)

Hello,

I am a 28 years old french speaking belgian.

I'd like to improve my command of English, and am willing to meet english speaking
expats who would like to improve their french speaking skills.

We could correct each others, and practice each other languages over a beer
or anyplace that is convenient for us both.

I used to work in english, but haven't done so for more than 4 years. So I'd really like to practice again. If you are new in Brussels it might be a good way to learn more about the city, I could give you advices or else.

Cheers
