Can I Sponsor My American Wife in Canada During Her VIsit

Postby RON B » Mon Jul 12, 2010 3:30 am

Hi, everyone, i'll try and keep it as short as possible and both my wife and i would appreciated any help and of course with the right answers to our delema.

I'm a canadian and married to an american. We got married in califorina aug 2007, having thought of course i would be there with her and making a life for ourselfs for the rest of it too, instead, we lost our home and everything else during the housing melt down there in 2008 before we even got going and what was left over, i barely got myself back to canada, it happen so fast and so sad.

I have not seen my wife or her me in 2 years now and it feels like forever, it's so hard for her and i living this way everyday , she's still living , after all this time in her brothers 12ft, in the riverside county area, just barely exsisting herself from one day to next and that was, if not the worse hit area during that period in the states. She is 50 now and finding a job there is worse then ever, even for her.

My question is simple i suppose. She wants to come and visit me, her husband for 6 months at lease as allowed from what i understand being an american and if her and i so choose after, will i and or my family be able to sponsor her, later if we so chose after she gets here for her visit, so her and i can have a life together here instead. Would she be be allowed to stay with me, her husband while the process is taking place in becoming a canadian and what would she say at the border as too to the purpose of her visit with the customs officers, we want to do this right and not have her turn back because she got nervous or intimated either by not answering the questions right, like i heard some do and get at the border when visiting our country, like i got when i frist got into detroit going down there to visit my girlfriend, now my wife.

Again, any help and answers would be so appreciated by her and i, so we can have a life together and build from there.

Sincerely

ron b and his wife
RON B

Hi, I was wondering if you ever figured out how to have your wife live with you in Canada while you are waiting for the sponsorship to be approved. I'm going insane trying to figure it all out. For some reason I can never find the right answers or have anyone to talk to about it. I've been on the Canadian immigration site and it just loses me.

I'm in a similar situation. We are getting married in January 2011. Its not the sponsoring part, and what we have to get to complete it that confuses us. Its how can she stay here for more than 6 months while we get everything done that we don't know how to accomplish. Can you or anyone out there point me in the right direction. I need help. I want to do this the right way. Thanks.
