Hi. If i got married in Brazil (not sure if that matters) to a Brazillian Citizen, and i myself am a Portuguese Citizen (well, again, not sure if it counts, but i was born in Brazil, with a Portuguese father - i hold a Portuguese passport). What is the status and or requirements for working in the UK (i appreciate that i can, but can my wife ?). I have read some of the comments regarding non EU marrying into EU, but note sure if this was a little more complex. Its difficult to find definitive information, so hope this can help. Thanks in advance [%sig%]
Hi Bob, The subject is a bit complex indeed (and it seems that the more I learn about it, the less clear it is... :headscratch If you go to any EU country (except Portugal because you are a Portuguese Citizen and therefore a differnetv rule will apply), your spouse will get the same rights as you will have, even if she is not a EU citizen. It means that if you work, then she will be granted to work permit. If you become a resident, then she will become a resident as well. In that case your are indeed following the EU regulation. NB: The situation is different if you want to go to Portugal. In this country, your spouse will not be subject to the EU rules, but to the standard immigration process because you are a Portuguese Citizen. [%sig%]
