    Hi everyone,

I left Belgium some months ago and returned to Germany and laft my bank account in negative. I would like to know if I can just leave it like that, or if they are going to trace me into Germany to claim for the money. By the way, I tried to de-register from the city hall, but after the third letter I just let it go, so I am still registered as living in Brussels.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

You shouldn't leave it like that. I don't think they will trace you to Germany (except perhaps if they could put it on your credit file somehow or they take it as a criminal offence to put you on the 'Schengen criminal list' ) but you might one day have to get back to Brussels and then you would have to pay it back with all the additional charges they will put on - and believe me, that might mean increasing your negative balance manyfold !
