    Hello,

I adore Montreal, and have always wanted to live there for at least a year or two. For a while now I've been getting the feeling that now is the time to do it.

Any advice for a US citizen who wants to live in Montreal for at least a year? What would be the best ways (if any) to do this & avoid being deported?

    Cheers,
    Svend E

The guide to Montreal is the best place to start (with a newly updated guide added soon), including a section on Canadian visas. You may also refer to our article on "Obtaining a Visa to Live, Study and Work: Canada".

Montreal is a beautiful city that attracts man interesting people and I highly recommend you go for it. Moving abroad is such a rewarding experience - with the proper planning. Our expat news stories like our article on Moving House as an Expat can help you plan and prepare.

I would also recommend checking out other expat stories of how they moved to Canada through the expat network in Montreal, expat blogs, and interviews. Anyone else have tips? Good luck :D
