All Israeli residents much sign up for one of the four national health insurance policies:

As a subscriber to the national insurance system should you become ill you will normally receive sickness benefit to the extent of 75% of your salary for up to ninety days. A grant will be paid for hospitalisation expenses. Hospital transportation costs will also be covered, and if you need to take time off work to care for a sick child a special benefit is available.

Patients pay a fixed contribution for medication and appliances, which varies according to your policy. Note that as a non-resident you will need to be covered by private medical insurance.

    Expatriate health insurance in Israel

With so much to deal with before leaving your home country, (taxes, moving house, paperwork etc.) the careful planning of your expatriation to Tel Aviv is an essential step. As far as healthcare is concerned, your local social security scheme won’t be accompanying you to your host country and, once abroad, you might be surprised by the care system you find in Israel. So, before leaving, make sure you have appropriate cover!

EasyExpat.com works in partnership with APRIL International to provide specific insurance solutions for travelling or staying outside your country of nationality.
