If you fall ill or need medical advice during your stay in Sweden you should
contact your local health centre (husläkarmottagning or vårdcentral). Each neighbourhood
in Stockholm has at least one such health centre. Consult the Stockholm Healthcare

These healthcare centres can also give you information about health check-ups
for children or about parental care. Doctors there can also refer you to a specialist
if necessary.
If you’re a student in need of medical advice you can get in touch with the
Karolinska Institutet:
The local emergency ward – Närakut
- provides immediate treatment for minor injuries and illnesses. It’s open daily
from 8am to 10pm but you should call before going there.
City Akuten is located at Apelbergsgatan 48,
Hötorget metro station, and provides semi-emergency medical treatment on weekdays.
No appointment is required.

Dental care is free in Sweden up to the age
of 19 years of age. After this you have to pay part or the entire cost of dental
care yourself.
