New York is the city of immigrants and the school system accounts for all of the international students in the city. The public school system employs many bilingual teachers and ESL (English as a second language) programs can be found in most schools to help children integrate.
Private schools are also an excellent resource for international students. Though very expensive compared to public school, many are more flexible in accepting foreign credits and catering to students needs. Tuition for the year is usually between $8,000 and $15,000 a year.
